emusic eMusic Shit On Loyal Customers...Again

UPDATE: Having spoke to eMusic myself I can confirm that the ability to redownload songs you have purchased will remain. There will hoever be a limit on the amount of times you can redownload a song. Apologies to eMusic for the misunderstanding. Here is what eMusic had to say to me:

“You will have the ability to redownlaod the tracks without being debited twice however you will have a limit to the times you can redownlaod the tracks before you have to purchase them again.”

“Once you have selected a track from eMusic, you are allowed to re-download it as many times as you like without losing download credits provided that the album is still available through eMusic and your account is active.”

“Once you click on a track or album to download, your account is debited at that time even if your download does not complete.   However, we have a record of your activity.”

I’m an eMu customer and called customer service to ask about this. Users will still be able re-download the tracks, but only a limited number of times. iTunes only lets you re-download a limited number of times as well. So, before we report on a report of a report of something being taken away maybe someone should do a bit of research and ask.

Thank you for informing me James. I have updated the post. I haven’t spoken to eMusic about this as of yet so before I can confirm all I can do is post both sides of the arguement.

We normally do as much research as possible before we post to make sure we have all the facts. On this occassion I didn’t confirm the story as Mike Masnick is usually a reliable source. I have contacted eMusic myself to get the full story, I will update the post when I hear back from them. Until I do I advise readers to contact eMusic themselves.
